February 25, 2009: Interview with Edward Landreth (Supervisor)

Q: Did you work anywhere prior to the Buffet?

A: Yes, the last place I worked at was McDonalds in Evansville, IN. I was the assistant store manager. I moved up to Muncie 5 years ago to be with my wife who was attending Ball State.

Q: Why did you choose to work at the Buffet at Ball State?

A: I chose to work at Ball State because of the excellent benefits and the time off in the summer. My wife is a special Ed teacher in Muncie. We both have the summers off. Another reason I chose Ball State was they pay 100% of your college tuition and 80% for your spouse or child. Currently I am working on my Bachelors in Food Management.

Q: How long have you been working at the Buffet?

A: I have been working at Ball State for 5 years now.

Q: What did you have to do to become a manager at Ball State?

A: To work at Ball State you have to have a 4 year degree in hospitality and management or a two year degree with experience. I only have a two year degree with over 10 years of experience.

Q: What are some of your duties in running the Buffet?

A: Most of my daily duties that I do are involved with the students. I am the Assistant manager and I am in charge of all student employees at Lafollette and the custodians.

Q: What is the hardest part of running the Buffet?

A: The hardest part of running the Buffet is when I am here I not just in charge of the Buffet. I am in charge of Out of Bounds, Courtside, and the America's Buffet.

Q: How many student employees do you have working for you?

A: 125
