March 30, 2009: Interview with Brena MaGrath (Cashier)

Q: How long have you worked at the Buffet?

A: It is my second year at Ball State and I have worked for the Buffet for two months now.

Q: How did you first hear about working at the Buffet?

A: From taking a cashiers class. One of the girls in my class said that Renee took the breakfast job, so there was a cashier spot open.

Q: What do you like most about working at the Buffet?

A: I like how laid back it is. It it drama free and I don't work up a sweat like I did working in the grill in Out of Bounds.

Q: What are some cons about working here?

A: It is slower and there are too many supervisors walking around.

Q: What training did you have prior to working here?

A: I took a cashier class everyday for a week for four hours. You had to pass with a 99 percent.

Q: Do you think the Buffet does a good job keeping things sanitary and clean?

A: Yes. There are some employees that work in the Buffet that really take pride in their work and do a good job keeping things clean, but there are some who could care less.

Q: Do you think the Buffet provides a health selection of food?

A: Yes. They definitely offer healthier and more of a variety of foods in the Buffet then other dining places.

Q: Being a non-student employee, do you think that student employees get treated the same as non-student employees?

A: No, they treat students like crap. There is a generation gap between the non-student and student employees and most of the non-student employees have worked  at the Buffet longer making them feel like they can order the student employees around. If I were a student employee I would just tell them they are not my boss.

Q:How do you feel about hiring more student employees?

A: Because they rely on students help a lot it is harder for non-student employees to get a job.
